Here is a poem I wrote in memory of my late grandmother.
Are you really gone Granny?
I can still hear your laugh,
Or hear you say how refreshed you feel,
from your weekly bath.
Are you really gone Granny?
I can hear you shouting ERIC!
And hear him reply, ‘coming deary’,
with patience almost angelic.
Are you really gone Granny?
Can’t we bake one last cake?
While listening to old Christmas carols,
What a racket we would make.
Are you really gone Granny?
I could do with one last kiss,
where you pull my cheeks in for a big ol’ smacker,
that, I really will miss.
Are you really gone Granny?
The sweet tin is bear,
But You’re with your heavenly father now,
I can’t wait to see you there.
So bye bye our dear Granny,
Words can’t describe how much we miss you,
But because of you, our hearts are full,
Praise God, You’re with your saviour ever true
